The oft-repeated aphorism devalues some kinds of real work
According to author Miya Tokumitsu, “do what you love” (DWYL) is the unofficial work mantra for our time. In “In the name of love,” on Slate.com, Tokumitsu writes, “The problem with DWYL … is that it leads not to salvation but to the devaluation of actual work — and more importantly, the dehumanization of the vast majority of laborers.”
